Description
Radium selenite has the molecular formula of RaSeO3
and the molecular weight of 352.9832 g/mol. It can be
prepared by the addition of sodium selenite to a solution
of radium chloride:
RaCl2(aq)+ Na2SeO3(aq) ? RaSeO3(solid)
It can also be prepared by treating a solution of
radium chloride with selenous acid and adding sodium
carbonate to start precipitation. There is no record of
a hydrate. RaSeO3 has been administered in the past as
a irradiative treatment of certain tumors but there is
no substantive evidence concerning its efficacy in this
regard. RaSeO3 has no CAS number and is not available
commercially.
