PGF
2α 1,15-
lactone is a lipid-
soluble internal ester of PGF
2α. Hydrolysis of the lactone readily produces free PGF
2α in plasma. In rhesus monkeys, a total dose of 15 mg of PGF
2α 1,15-
lactone terminates early pregnancy, whereas PGF
2α is ineffective.
Uses
PGF2α 1,15-lactone (Prostaglandin F2α 1,15-lactone) is a lipid-soluble internal ester of PGF2α. PGF2α 1,15-lactone decreases menstrual cycle lengths in non-pregnant rhesus monkeys. PGF2α 1,15-lactone terminates early pregnancy in the monkey[1].

PGF2α 1,15-lactone (5 mg for i.v.; 3 mg for intramuscularly) terminates early pregnancy in the monkey[1].
