N-Methylurea is used as a reagent in the synthesis of bis(aryl)(hydroxyalkyl)(methyl)glycoluril derivatives and is a potential byproduct of caffeine.
Production Methods
Methylurea is produced on an
industrial scale by passing monomethylamine
into a urea melt.
