Chloropentafluoroethane is a colorless odorless gas with an ether-like odor. Chloropentafluoroethane is shipped as a liquefied gas under its own vapor pressure. Chloropentafluoroethane is noncombustible. Chloropentafluoroethane can asphyxiate by the displacement of air. Contact with the liquid can cause frostbite. Exposure of the container to prolonged heat or fire may cause Chloropentafluoroethane to rupture violently and rocket.

If this chemical contacts theskin, remove contaminated clothing and wash immediatelywith soap and water. Seek medical attention immediately. Ifthis chemical has been inhaled, remove from exposure,begin rescue breathing (using universal precautions, including resuscitation mask) if breathing has stopped and CPR ifheart action has stopped. Transfer promptly to a medicalfacility. When this chemical has been swallowed, get medical attention. Give large quantities of water and inducevomiting. Do not make an unconscious person vomit.If frostbite has occurred, seek medical attention immediately; do NOT rub the affected areas or flush them withwater. In order to prevent further tissue damage, do NOTattempt to remove frozen clothing from frostbitten areas.
