- [3-(2-Aminoethylamino)propyl]trimethoxysilane has been used in the synthesis of various polyhedral silsesquioxanes, (RSiO_1.5)_n (SSQO).
- It can be functionalized onto the mesoporous SBA-15 silica to be used as matrices for controlled drug delivery.
- It is also used in the synthesis of silane-based polymer, which is used in conducting instant adhesives.

N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine has also been used as an organic ligand for the surface modification of silica gel to uptake heavy metal ions. It can react with fluorinated carbon nanotubes (F-CNT) to form aminoalkylalkoxysilane functionalized carbon nanotubes.

Synthese
Add 12 mol (721.2 g) of ethylenediamine in the reaction kettle, press 1 mol (198.7 g) of chloropropyltrimethoxysilane into the metering tank, and raise the temperature of the ethylenediamine to 120 under the stirring condition of 100 rpm, add the chloropropyltrimethoxysilane in the metering tank dropwise into the ethylenediamine in the reaction kettle within 4 hours by dripping funnel, and continue to keep warm under the condition of 120 after the dropwise addition. Reaction for 2 hours, the reaction generates N-(-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane and ethylenediamine hydrochloride, and then reduce the kettle temperature to 80 C, at the same time, open the water-circulating vacuum pump in the -0.08MPa At the same time, a water-circulating vacuum pump was turned on at -0.08 MPa to recover 8 mol (480.8 g) of ethylenediamine under vacuum.
