Guacetisal has the effect of delaying kinin to make bronchospasm, and has expectorant, asthma, cough, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. Guacetisal is produced by the esterification of acetylsalicylic acid acetate with guaiacol and has the potential to be used in the study of chronic bronchitis, from patent CN 106866420 A.

Guaiacol salicylate, acetic anhydride and a catalytic amount of concentrated sulfuric acid are mixed and reacted at 60°C. It was dropped into ice brine with stirring and left to stand. The crystals were collected by filtration, washed with water until neutral, and recrystallized with ethanol to obtain Guacetisal, the melting point was 72-74.5°C, and the yield was 88%.
