Example 1: Synthesis of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-methyl-2-propanol 1. In a three-necked flask equipped with a stirrer and reflux condenser, a solution of 4-chlorobenzyl chloride (165 g, 1.02 mol) in ether (500 ml) was added. 2.
