This alkaloid which structurally resembles the Alstonia bases, is found in Picralima Klaineana and forms clusters of colourless needles from C6H6-pentane. It has [α]²⁵_D - 124° (EtOH) and is characterized as the picrate, yellow prisms when recrystallized from MeOH, m.p. 162-4°C.
