What are the uses of Guanosine5'-(tetrahydrogen triph) (GTP-Na2)?
Nov 4,2025
The disodium salt form (GTP-Na2) is a stable, water-soluble version of GTP that is widely used in laboratory and research settings. Biochemical Research: It is a standard reagent in molecular biology labs for studying processes that require GTP. This includes in vitro (test tube) experiments for transcription, translation (protein synthesis), and microtubule assembly. Enzyme Assays: It's used to study the activity of enzymes that use GTP as a substrate, such as GTPases (the enzymes that "turn off" G-proteins). Drug Discovery: Since GTP is vital for G-protein signaling, which is a target for a large percentage of modern drugs, GTP-Na2 is used in screening assays to find new drugs that modulate these pathways.
