What are the biological functions of 2'-Deoxyguanosine?
2'-Deoxyguanosine (2'-dG) is one of the nucleosides constituting DNA, functioning to influence gene regulation and being closely associated with purine metabolism and related diseases. Moreover, its modified form, 8-oxo-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG), is a well-recognised marker of oxidative stress and participates in processes including mutation, DNA repair, gene expression regulation, inflammatory responses, adaptive stress responses, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. 8-oxo-dG holds potential as a therapeutic agent for inflammatory, autoimmune, degenerative and neoplastic diseases, as well as traumatic and toxic injuries.
