Properties

Polypropylene belongs to the group of polyolefins and is partially crystalline and non-polar. Its properties are similar to polyethylene, but it is slightly harder and more heat-resistant. It is a white, mechanically rugged material and has a high chemical resistance.

Differences between PC and PP

Appearance

PC (Polycarbonate): Transparent.

PP (Polypropylene): Translucent.

Applications

PC (Polycarbonate)

PC (Polycarbonate) is commonly known as PC engineering plastic. It is widely used globally, particularly in engineering applications.

Historical usage: Cup parts (e.g., baby bottles, water cups, soy milk machines).

Characteristics:

Strong light transmittance.

High impact resistance.

Poor wear resistance.

PP (Polypropylene)

PP (Polypropylene) is commonly known as PP engineering plastic.

Typical applications: Crisper boxes, water glass products, juice beverage bottles.

Characteristics:

Poor light transmittance.

Low impact resistance.

Good wear resistance.
