Niobium silicide:Crystal Structure,Properties,Uses,Synthesis
Niobium silicide is a compound of niobium and silicon with the chemical formula NbSi2. It is used for niobium silicide-based turbine components, high-temperature structural materials, etc.
Crystal Structure
Niobium Silicide has a structure of hexagonal crystal.
Physical properties
Niobium Silicide (NbSi2) is a gray crystal with a density of 5.7g/mL (25°C) and a melting point of 1950°C. Niobium Silicide (NbSi2) is insoluble in water, concentrated hydrochloric acid, and concentrated sulfuric acid, but soluble in a mixed solution of hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid.
Uses
Niobium Silicide (NbSi2) can be combined with zirconium disilicide, molybdenum disilicide, and tungsten trisilicide to form a solid solution and used as a fine ceramic raw material. It is also used in electrode materials, thin film materials, and refractory.
Synthesis
niobium suicide (NbSi2), which can be formed by reacting niobium metal deposited on poly-Si and by using APCVD from the NbCl5—SiH4—H2 system.
