Biological activity of Phlorizin
Phloridzin is a dihydrochalcone flavonoids compound. It mainly exists in the root bark, stem, young leaves and apple fruits of apple trees, and also exists in small amounts in Compositae, Rhododendron, Leguminosae, Fagaceae, and Liliaceae. Phloridzin has many biological activities such asreducing blood sugar, improving memory, anti allergy, anticancer, etc., as well as potential use values.
Biological activity
1. Hypoglycemic effect
A large number of studies have shown that phloridzin has the effect of reducing fasting blood sugar. The mechanism of phloridzin reducing blood sugar is that it competitively inhibits the transport of glucose molecules by glucose transporters (SGLTs and GLUTs).
2. Antioxidant effect
Phloridzin has obvious protective effect on oxidative damage caused by high-fat diet in Drosophila. It can enhance the activities of SOD and CAT, and significantly prolong the lifespan of Drosophila.
3. Physiological correlation with plants
Phloridzin is closely related to physiological phenomena such as plant growth and development and stress resistance. It can resist a variety of pathogenic bacteria, such as apple scab, fire blight and so on.
4. Other activities
Phloridzin has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects.
