Catestatin is a polypeptide consisting of 21 amino acid residues and belongs to the class of cationic hydrophobic peptides. It is an endogenous peptide that regulates cardiac function and blood pressure. Catestatin acts as a non-competitive nicotinic antagonist by inhibiting the release of catecholamines through nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs).
