Product names: Sodium cholate
CAS#:361-09-1
Properties: White powder, bitter taste.
Sodium cholate can be used in biochemical research, animal experiments to prepare high fat feed, etc.
1. Basic information
Sodium cholate are a general term for a class of cholic acids that contain a steroidal parent core in their chemical structure with a hydroxyl group at one end and a carboxyl group at the other. The CAS registration number is 361-09-1.
2. Character
Appearance: white or off-white crystalline powder.
Solubility: soluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents, slightly soluble in water. The solubility is increased in alkaline solutions.
Odor: It has a special odor, similar to the taste of bile.
3. Source and synthesis
Sodium cholate are mainly found in the bile of animals, such as cattle, sheep, and pigs. In the human body, bile acids are synthesized by the liver and stored in the gallbladder, where they are secreted into the small intestine during digestion to aid in fat digestion and absorption.
Sodium cholate can also be prepared by means of chemical synthesis. Synthetic methods usually involve a multi-step chemical reaction from starting materials such as cholesterol to obtain the target product.
