Appearance:
White waxy solid or yellow colloid; its aqueous solution is neutral or weakly alkaline, and a large amount of foam is generated when shaking. This product is very soluble in water or ethanol, slightly soluble in ether.

Application:
This product is a cationic surfactant of the quaternary ammonium salts, used as a preservative in the preparation. It is widely used in ophthalmic preparations, but also in nasal and ear preparations, small volume injections and cosmetics.
Compatibility Taboo:
This product is incompatible with aluminum, anionic surfactants, citrate, cotton, fluorescein, hydrogen peroxide, hypromellose, iodide, kaolin, lanolin, nitrate, and high-concentration nonionic surfactants, permanganic acid, protein, salicylate, silver salt, soap, sulfa drugs, zinc oxide, zinc sulfate, some rubber mixtures and some plastic mixtures.
Safety:
This dilute solution is usually non-irritating, non-allergenic and easily tolerated in transdermal and mucosal preparations.
Storage:
This product is hygroscopic, light, air and metal can affect its stability. It should be stored in sealed container in a cool, dry and dark place, and avoid contact with metal.
