Trimellitic anhydride is mainly applied to produce good heat-proof, weather-proof and solvent-proof trimellitate plasticizers, among which the most popular product is tri(2-ethylhexyl)trimellitate. It is also used to synthesize polyester resins.
TMA can also be applied to curing agent of epoxy resins, heat-proof insulated laminas, heat-proof varnishes, stabilizers, dyestuffs, pigments, surfactants, etc.
It is also applied in heat-proof insulated paints and wire enamels. It is also used to synthesize water soluble polyurethane resins and amino-alkyd resins.
In addition, TMA has wide application to high class aerooil, impregnating oil for power capacitors, adhesives for granules, instant adhesives, sizing agents, antismoke agents, dyestuffs, printing inks, medicines and farm chemicals.
TMA can also be used as accelerant for vulcanization, treating agent of fiber and flocculant of film.
