Introduction:
Styrene, also known as vinyl benzene, is an organic compound formed by replacing one hydrogen atom of ethylene with benzene. At room temperature, styrene is a sweet, sticky, volatile liquid, but at too high a concentration, the smell becomes unpleasant. In styrene, the electrons of the vinyl are conjugated to the benzene ring. Styrene is insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, exposed to the air gradually polymerization and oxidation. It is an important monomer of synthetic resin, ion exchange resin and synthetic rubber.
