ABT 724 trihydrochloride is a potent dopamine D4 receptor agonist. ABT 724 is used in pharmacology systems for treating ocular disorders.
ChEBI: 2-[[4-(2-pyridinyl)-1-piperazinyl]methyl]-1H-benzimidazole is a member of pyridines and a member of piperazines.
Potent dopamine D 4 receptor partial agonist (EC 50 = 12.4 nM; 61% efficacy vs. dopamine). Has no agonist activity at D 2 receptors (EC 50 > 10 μ M). Selective in rats in vivo : produces penile erection following i.c.v. administration; increases intracavernosal pressure and potentiates the proerectile effects of sildenafil following s.c. administration. Displays minimal side effects.
