Urea phosphate(CO(NH₂)₂·H₃PO₄) is a white, rhombic crystalline compound that is readily soluble in water and alcohol. Its aqueous solution is acidic, with a pH of 1.6–2.4, while a 1% aqueous solution has a pH of 1.89. Due to its acidic nature, urea phosphate is frequently used for the reclamation of saline-alkaline soils. When applied to soil, it can moderately lower the pH of the soil and specific microsites within it, thereby altering the soil acid–base balance, improving its physicochemical properties and structure, and promoting crop growth.
