Polyethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate (PEF) is a biodegradable polyester polymer. The main component of PEF is FDCA, a derivative product of HMF, and it is the most critical functional polyester material downstream of FDCA. As a new material, it has become the next generation of bio-based polyester for bottles, films, and fibers. Compared with petroleum-based polyester-poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET), bio-based polyester-Polyethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate has better physical-mechanical properties and has broad application prospects in high-barrier packaging materials, high-performance fibers, and engineering plastics.
