A white to light yellow granular solid. The primary hazard is to the environment. Immediate steps should be taken to limit its spread to the environment. Used as a detergent.

Reacts as a base to neutralize acids. These reactions generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of the bases in reactivity group 10 (Bases) and the neutralization of amines. Usually does not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is possible.
Ingestion causes irritation of mouth and stomach. Contact with eyes causes irritation. Has a drying effect on skin; prolonged contact may cause irritation.
