6,7-Dichloro-1,4-dihydroquinoxaline-2,3-dione is a potential antagonist of the glycine site on N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors and can be useful in the study of structure-activity relationships of quinoxaline derivatives as Gly/NMDA receptor antagonists.
ChEBI: 6,7-dichloro-1,4-dihydroquinoxaline-2,3-dione is a quinoxaline derivative.
Step 1: Acetic anhydride (10 g, 98 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of 3,4-dichloroaniline (10 g, 93.5 mmol) and triethylamine (10.4 g, 103 mmol) in 100 mL of anhydrous dichloromethane at 0 C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 6 hours and then concentrated. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate, washed with water and brine, dried, concentrated, and purified by recrystallization.
