Fine, white powder; odorless. Moderately soluble in water; insoluble
in petroleum solvents and benzene.
Polymerization catalyst, deodorants, antiseptics.
Fine white odorless powder. Used as a polymerization catalyst.
Moderately soluble in water.
SUCCINIC ACID PEROXIDE is a strong oxidizing agent. May cause organic materials to ignite. May react explosively with strongly reduced material such as sulfides, nitrides, and hydrides. Mixing with a catalyst (often a transition metal such as cobalt, iron, manganese, nickel, or vanadium) as an impurity can cause rapid decomposition, a buildup of heat, and even an explosion. May explode from heat, shock, friction or contamination. May be ignited by heat, sparks or flames. May burn rapidly with flare-burning effect.
Fire risk in contact with combustible materials,
oxidizing agent. Toxic by ingestion and
inhalation, irritant to skin.

An irritant. Explodes on contact with flame. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. See also PEROXIDES, ORGANIC .
