Commercial production of fluoridamid is not available in open literature. Its structure, however, as a trifluoromethylsulfonylated acetanilide, allows a reliable reconstruction of the type of chemistry industry would have used. Commercial production would have centred on first preparing the 4 methyl 3 aminophenyl intermediate, then introducing the trifluoromethylsulfonyl group via reaction with a trifluoromethanesulfonylating reagent, a standard route for aryl sulfonamides. The resulting sulfonamide would then be acetylated to form the final acetanilide structure. After reaction completion, the crude product would be purified, washed, dried, and milled to yield technical grade fluoridamid.
