(S)-Indoxacarb is an enantiomer of Indoxacarb (I654000), a novel oxadiazine insecticide that is bioactivated in lepidopteran larvae.
The production of indoxacarb involves a multi-step organic synthesis starting from m-chlorobenzaldehyde, which reacts with malonic acid to form an intermediate compound through a condensation reaction that eliminates water and carbon dioxide. This intermediate, known as SRCA, undergoes hydrogenation reduction in a high-pressure reactor using a catalyst to yield another intermediate, SRCH. The SRCH is then subjected to cyclisation using hydrogen fluoride as a dehydrating agent, forming the final indoxacarb molecule.
ChEBI: Indoxacarb is an organochlorine insecticide and a methyl ester. It has a role as a voltage-gated sodium channel blocker.
Contact and stomach action. Voltage-dependent sodium channel modulator.
