Methyl chrysanthemum is an important intermediate of pyrethroids, which can be used to synthesize allethrin, promethrin, permethrin, dimethrin, metothrin, pyrethrin, and fenothrin.
Synthesis
Methyl chrysanthemate was synthesized by reacting 2,5-dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene with methyl diazoacetate solution in prestence of a catalyst.
