GENERAL METHODS: Benzodihydropyran derivatives 12a-r (1.0 mmol) and tetrazine 4b (1.1 mmol) were dissolved in toluene or CHCl3 in sealed tubes, and the reaction mixtures were heated to the indicated temperatures. The reaction progress was monitored by TLC or 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by appropriate methods.
