A further alkaloid of the bisbenzylisoquinoline type found in Thalictrum
fendleri Engelm, this base yields colourless crystals from Me2CO and has [α]25D +
236° (CHCl3). The ultraviolet spectrum has one absorption maximum at 283 mJ.1.
The D-methyl ether is identical with Hernandezine (q.v.). The D-ethy1 ether
forms colourless crystals with m.p. 117-120° C.
Thalidezine is an isoquinoline alkaloid used in the treatments of cancers and neurodegenerative diseases.
