2-Amino-4-sulfonic acid is a fine chemical that can be used to prepare dyes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, etc.
2-Amino-4-sulfobenzoic acid is freely soluble in hot water, less soluble in cold water. The compound is obtained at a moderate yield by treating 4-methyl-3-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid with sodium hydroxide solution. This acid is used mainly in the manufacture of diazoamino compounds of the R-N=N-NH-R' type. As mixtures with naphthols these compounds have acquired importance as printing inks (Rapidogen dyes).
The synthesis method of 2-amino-4-sulfobenzoic acid is as follows: dissolve o-nitrotoluene in pure sulfuric acid at 25-85C, then add 65% fuming sulfuric acid dropwise to carry out the sulfonation reaction, to obtain 2-nitro-4-sulfotoluene; then carry out an autoredox reaction of the above product 2-nitro-4-sulfotoluene under alkaline conditions to produce 2-amino-4-sulfobenzoic acid, the reaction is carried out at 60-130C. The synthesis method is as follows. The reaction was carried out at 60-130C.
