Straw yellow powder. Insoluble in water, turns yellow when dissolved in sodium sulfide solution, and turns dark orange when dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid.
Sulphur Yellow 9 is mainly used for dyeing and printing cotton, linen, viscose fiber, and vinylon. It has a bright and delicate color with good colorfastness. It is often blended with sulfur blue (CV) to dye beige and green, and with sulfur bright green to dye pale green.
