Cycloprate is an obsolete acaricide. Little information is available regarding its environmental fate or ecotoxicology. It has a low oral mammalian toxicity and is an irritant.
Cycloprate is an insecticide with ovicidal activity.
The production route for cycloporate is not available in open literature. However, its production route can be inferred from its chemical identity and would probably have followed the standard esterification route used for long chain fatty esters: preparation of cyclopropanecarboxylic acid (or its acid chloride), followed by reaction with hexadecanol under acidic or catalytic conditions to form the ester. After completion, the crude product would be purified by washing, phase separation, and vacuum distillation to yield technical grade cycloprate for formulation.
