2,6-Dinitroaniline is used for organic synthesis intermediates, dyes intermediates, used in the preparation of 2,6-dinitroiodobenzene. It act as a precursor for various new 1,2,3-trisubstituted halobenzene derivatives.
Chlorobenzene-4-sulfonic acid is dinitrated to give 4- chloro-3,5-dinitrobenzenesulfonic acid [88-91-5], which is desulfonated by heating the diluted sulfuric acid solution from the nitration mix to give 2- chloro-1,3- dinitrobenzene [606-21-3]; the latter is aminated to 2,6-Dinitroaniline.
2,6-Dinitroaniline is a dinitroaniline. It serves as precursor to various new 1,2,3-trisubstituted halobenzene derivatives.
Purify the nitroaniline by chromatography on alumina, then crystallise it from *benzene or EtOH. The N-acetyl derivative has m 197o (from EtOH). [Beilstein 12 IV 1729.]
