- In the synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles by thermal decomposition method.
- in the removal of CO2 due to its solubilize CO2.
It can also be used as a reactant in the preparation of polyether adducts of bis(1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-pentanedionato)barium.

It is also used as an active solvent for solvent-based coatings, dye carrier for textile dye processes, coupling agent and solvent in household and industrial cleaners, paint and floor polish strippers, hard surface cleaners, and disinfectants, chemical process solvent and intermediate for ester production used as solvents, surfactants and plasticizers, coupling agent for resins and dyes in water-based printing ink, component of high-boiling hydraulic brake fluids.
