Dysprosium is one of the components of Terfenol-D,which is employed in transducers, wide-band mechanical resonators, and high-precision liquid-fuel injectors.
Thulium(III) fluoride is used for glass doping, and used to enhance mid-IR emission in oxyfluoride glass ceramics. It is also used to improve ultraviolet and visible upconversion fluorescence in fluorinated glasses.
