Black powder, insoluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, chloroform, pyridine, toluene, soluble in o-chlorophenol, xylene, tetrahydronaphthalene. Dark purple in concentrated sulfuric acid, and becomes dark purple precipitate after dilution.
