Sulochrin is a fungal metabolite isolated from both Penicillium sp. and Asperigillus, described to inhibit the degranulation, activation and chemotaxis of eosinophils. Additionally, Sulochrin has been shown to inhibit eosinophil O2 and IL-8 production, and LTC4 release. Studies suggest that Sulochrin inhibits the tube formation of HUVECs induced by the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Data from Aspergillus terreus lovastatin studies report Sulochrin as a co-metabolite during its fermentation.
