- Uses a-Amyrin is a natural chemical compound of the triterpene class. It is a pentacyclic triterpenol widely distributed in nature and has been isolated from a variety of plant sources such as epicuticular wax.
- Definition ChEBI: A pentacyclic triterpenoid that is ursane which contains a double bond between positions 12 and 13 and in which the hydrogen at the 3beta position is substituted by a hydroxy group.

α-Amyrin (50, 100, 200 mg/kg orally, once daily for 42 days) can reduce the survival rate of rats with metabolic syndrome induced by high fructose diet[2].
α-Amyrin (2 or 4 mg/kg, orally) improves cognitive dysfunction caused by low cholinergic neurotransmission in mice by activating ERK and GSK-3β signaling pathways[3].Animal Model: High-fructose diet (HFD)-induced metabolic syndrome in rats[2] Dosage: 50, 100, 200 mg/kg Administration: p.o. Result: Decreased systolic blood pressure, plasma glucose, total cholesterol, and plasma triglycerides.
