Physalaemin Chemical Properties,Usage,Production

  • Description Physalaemin is an oligopeptide that is originally derived from the skin of the South American frog Physalaemus fuscumaculatus. It belongs to the class of kinins and shares a similar chemical structure and mode of action with Substance P. It is a potent vasodilator and has hypotensive effects.
  • Uses Physalaemin is a neuropeptide found in amphibians that has shown potential in the treatment of Sjogren's disease.?
  • Biological Activity Physalaemin is a non-mammalian tachykinin that selectively binds with high affinity to the neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor.
  • in vitro

Physalaemin (PHY), an undecapeptide with the sequence pGlu-Ala-Asp-Pro-Asn-Lys-Phe-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Met-NH2, is a member of the tachykinin family of neuropeptides. PHY is very close to the mammalian tachykinin substance P (SP) in its function and chemical composition, and SP is well studied and characterized. Physalaemin is a bradykinin potentiating peptide (BPP-5a).
