Description
FG 7142 (ZK 39106; LSU-65) is a nonselective benzodiazepine inverse agonist with high affinity (Ki= 91 nM) for the α1 subunit-containing GABAA receptor. FG 7142 also modulates GABA-induced chloride flux (EC50=137 nM) at GABAA receptors expressing the α1 subunit. FG 7142 increases tyrosine hydroxylation and leads to upregulation of β-adrenergic receptors in mouse cerebral cortex.
Uses
FG 7142 is a benzodiazepine inverse agonist anxiogenic compound.
Definition
ChEBI: N-methyl-9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole-3-carboxamide is a member of beta-carbolines.
Biological Activity
Inverse agonist and anxiogenic agent. Increases tyrosine hydroxylation and causes upregulation of β -adrenoceptors in mouse cerebral cortex.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Benzodiazepine inverse receptor agonist; potent anxiogenic agent.
