Description
Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is a mixture of long chain sulfonate salts prepared bysulfonation of C14-16 alpha olefins. It consists chiefly of sodium alkene sulfonates and sodiumhydroxyalkane sulfonates.
Uses
Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is a great surfactant that helps remove dirt, pollutants and buildup from the hair and scalp. Mostly present in hair care products, it can also be used in skin care and cosmetics. Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is a pretty effective cleansing agent with good foaming properties. In its raw form, Olefin Sulfonate has the look of a fine white powder.
Side effects
Studies by toxicologists have shown that Sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate is safe at concentrations found in personal care products. However, it may cause dryness of the hair and skin, and may also produce pimples, which can lead to acne. On dyed hair it can cause the colour to fade more quickly. Use with caution if you have dry or sensitive skin.
