Chemical Properties
There are three isomers. The melting point of trans,trans,trans-cyclododecatriene is 34℃; the melting point of trans,trans,cis-cyclododecatriene is -18℃. Boiling point 100-101°C (1.46kPa), relative density 0.8910 (20/4°C), refractive index 1.5058. Soluble in benzene, chloroform. Flash point 87℃.
General Description
A colorless liquid. Toxic by skin absorption and ingestion and irritating to skin and eyes. Used to make other chemicals.
Reactivity Profile
Cyclododeca-1,5,9-triene may react vigorously with strong oxidizing agents. May react exothermically with reducing agents to release hydrogen gas. In the presence of various catalysts (such as acids) or initiators, may undergo exothermic addition polymerization reactions.
Health Hazard
Exposure can cause irritation and burns of eyes, nose and throat.
