Uses
Basis of plasticizers such as diisononyl adipate.
Definition
A Higher alcohol developed in early 1968. Combustible.
Production Methods
Isononyl alcohol is made in the oxo process by reacting
olefins with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence
of a catalyst, followed by hydrogenation. The commercial
product typically consists of dimethyl-1-heptanols and
methyl-1-octanols; the composition and CAS registry number
depend on the olefin feedstock.
Flammability and Explosibility
Non flammable
