Basic Red 12 is useful in colouring compositions for colour filters.

Preparation

(a) 2-(1,3,3-Trimethylindolin-2-yl)acetaldehyde?and Formic acid?in acetic anhydride, in the presence of magnesium oxide for condensation reaction, and then to the water, salting out dyes; (b) 3-Methyl-1H-indole?and Chloromethane?reaction,and then to convert it into Trimethoxymethane dye.

blue light pink. Red?violet?with?gray?powder . Easy to dissolve in water and ethanol peach_pink, also dissolve fiber element in.
