Chemical Properties
White crystalline powder
Properties and Applications
The molecular structure of Sodium 3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonate (CHPS-Na) contains both highly active halogen atoms and hydroxyl groups, as well as hydrophilic sulfonic acid groups. The halogen atoms are prone to substitution reactions and Eliminate reactions. Therefore, CHPS-Na is an essential functional monomer in the synthetic polymer industry. It can also be used as an intermediate in organic chemicals and is an essential multifunctional material.
Uses
3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid sodium salt can be used as synthetic
polymers industry in important functional monomer, organic chemical
intermediates, surfactants, modified starch, drilling fluid loss
materials and other products.
Application
3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid sodium salt was used:
- to prepare negatively charged probe particles to investigate effect of nanoporosity of cellulosic fibers on their streaming potential and their interactions with cationic polyelectrolytes;
- to prepare surface-derivatized microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) particles having either a strong positive or a strong negative zeta potential.
General Description
3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid sodium salt is a novel anionic agent.
