2-Methoxybenzaldehyde and 2,2-dimethoxyethylamine react in benzene to form an aldehyde-amine condensation reaction, which then reacts with ethyl chloroformate and trimethyl phosphite to generate 8-methoxyisoquinolin-4(3H)-one intermediate Chemicalbook.
