Chemical Properties
dark red crystals or powder
Uses
Reinecke salt may be used as a precipitation reagent for the isolation of quaternary ammonium alkaloids (QAAs) in the dried powder of Rhizoma Corydalis. Quantitative analysis of these QAAs was conducted by MALDI-MS (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization - Mass Spectrometry). It may be used for the fabrication of bulk Meldola blue-zirconium phosphate-Reinecke salt screen-printed electrodes (bMBZrPRs-SPEs).
Uses
Reinecke salt is used in preparation and characterization of in situ Carbon paste and screen-printed potentiometric sensors for determination of Econazole Nitrate, surface analysis using SEM and EDX.Dyes and metabolites.
General Description
Reinecke salt [ammonium tetrarhodanatodiamminechromate(III)] is an ammonium salt. It participates in the quantitative precipitation of histones as well as basic compounds present in an acid tissue extract by forming reineckate complexes.
Purification Methods
Crystallise it from water, between 30o and 0o, while working under artificial light. Solutions of reineckate salt (aqueous or alcoholic) decompose slowly at room temperature in the dark (~2 weeks) and more rapidly at higher temperatures or in diffuse sunlight. The solutions are blue in colour and liberate HCN (POISONOUS). Store it dry in the dark under a vacuum. [Dakin Org Synth Coll Vol II 555 1943.]
