Cirsimaritin is a flavonoid obtained from Cirsium japonicum var. maackii pappus and is effective as an anti-inflammatory agent as well as antioxidant.

Biological Activity
Cirsimaritin has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth and induce mitochondrial apoptosis in GBC-SD cells. It was proposed th at cirsimaritin-induced reactive oxygen species is the trigger for ER stress and down-regulate the phosphorylation of Akt.
