Ayanin is a biologically active flavonoid isolated from Croton schiedeanus Schlecht. Ayanin is a non-selective phosphodiesterase (phosphodiesterase1-4) inhibitor, which can be used in the study of respiratory diseases, such as allergic asthma.in vitro
Ayanin inhibits interleukin (IL)-4 production from purified basophils with an IC 50 value of 2.2 μM.
