1.5g (6.8mmol) of 7,8-dimethoxy-1,3-dihydro-2h-3-benzoaza-2-one, 1.5g (9.5mmol) of 1,3-bromochloropropane and 6ml of DMF into a flask, raise the temperature of the mixture to 40 ℃, and add 0.8g of 40% sodium hydroxide (8mmol) solution. (Z)-3-(3-chloropropyl)-7,8-diethyl-1H-benzo[d] azepin-2 (3H)-one is the side chain of ivabradine hydrochloride. Ivabradine and its medicinal salts, especially its hydrochloride, have very important pharmacological and therapeutic properties, especially, in slowing down the heart rate. Relating compounds can be used to treat or prevent various clinical myocardial ischemia conditions, such as angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and related rhythm disorders, various pathologies involving rhythm disorders, especially supraventricular rhythm disorders.

3-(3-Chloropropyl)-7,8-dimethoxy-1H-3-benzazepin-2(3H)-one is a reactant used in the synthesis of Zatebradine analogues as potential blockers od hyperpolarization-activated current.
